SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION GUIDELINES

 

  1. Applicants may apply for scholarship assistance in the following areas:
    1. Fire Protection Engineering at the University of Maryland
    2. Any University of Maryland curriculum leading to a Bachelor Degree in fire or health (EMS) related fields.

The scholarship Committee has assigned the following priorities to control scholarship grants:

(1)   Fire Service Administration at the University of Maryland (Junior standing, or higher, in a 4-year program.)

(2)   Community College in Fire or Health (EMS) related programs.

  1. An application must be submitted by March 31 to be considered for scholarship assistance for the enduring year.  Applications may be obtained from the Scholarship Chairman or any Committee member.  The applicant must enter as a full-time student in his/her respective college/university.  Acceptance by the respective college/university will be prerequisite for receipt of a scholarship or loan.  The respective campus finance office will be asked to review each application for scholarship assistance.  All applicants must be Maryland State High School Graduates or hold a G.E.D. Certificate.
  2. The applicant, for any course or approved curriculum, shall be required to forward, or have forwarded, a letter or recommendation from his/her fire or rescue company.  This letter must be signed by a chief officer of the applicant’s member company.
  3. Current college level student will be required to maintain an acceptable Grade point Average (G.P.A.)  To be eligible for scholarship support for the ensure academic year.  Students entering community colleges, with plans to transfer to a 4-year college/university, as in the Fire Protection Engineering curriculum, must ensure that their course of study is transferable to the institution for which a degree is desired.
