RE: Round the Clock Seat Belt Enforcement – Seat Belts Save Lives

The Click it or Ticket Campaign for 2011 has a new 24 hours a day – round the clock education and enforcement message. This multi- agency approach has two goals – to save lives and to improve the safe driving practices of all Marylanders. We are requesting your department's help to get out the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) campaign to "Cracking Down on Seat Belt Use – Especially at Night".

As part of the Maryland Choose Safety for Life Campaign, we are asking every EMS and Fire company to put the message below on its outdoor signage from May 23rd thru June 5th 2011.

"Buckle Up Maryland – Day & Night. It is the Law".

In addition, to ensure the safe driving practices of all our emergency services providers, we encourage you to distribute this message to everyone in your department in the continued effort to Buckle Up every ride every time. Join the 21 departments in Maryland that already have 100% compliance with the International First Responder Seatbelt Safety Pledge.
Information and the application are at www.everyonegoeshome.com/seatbelts

Forward information about the status of your department's pledge and any pictures from your outdoor signs to MIEMSS Media: jbrown@miemss.org .

Thank you for joining this important public safety campaign. We hope to see you in Ocean City where there will be new Buckle Up banners and more information.
