UPDATED: Death Announcement & Obituary: Charles “Chuck” Austin”

The Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company, Anne Arundel Volunteer Firefighter’s Association, and the Maryland State Firemens Association regretfully announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” Austin.
Chuck has served the fire service for many years, starting with the Marley Volunteer Fire Company, Glen Burnie Volunteer Fire Company, and joining Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company in 1971.
Chuck served in many positions with the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company, Lieutenant, Training Officer, Corresponding Secretary, and President. He chaired the Ways and Means committee and was very active with weekly bingo and the annual carnival.
Chuck represented EHVFC as a delegate to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association for many years. He also held the offices of Sergeant at Arms from 2006-2007, and Second Vice-President in 2008. Chuck was inducted into the AACVFA Hall of Fame in 2002.
Chuck represented EHVFC as a delegate to the Maryland State Firemens Association and was very active with the MSFA. He Chaired the 17 State Circle Committee from 2003 to 2012, and was very active in getting donations to the annual golf tournament held each year at the convention and conference in Ocean City, MD. Chuck was inducted into the MSFA Hall of Fame in 2009.
Chuck is the father of Tracy L. Smith-Gearhart, President of the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Ladies Auxiliary.
