Maryland DNR Looking for Qualified EMT’s
The MD Forest Service in coordination with the US Forest Service and FEMA are looking for 35 qualified EMT’s to staff a Covid Vaccination site in Waldorf, MD starting the beginning of March.
This effort is being coordinated through our existing Master Cooperative Agreement with the US Forest Service. Because we are the agency through which these types of emergency hires flow through, we will be working to process the paperwork. The state of MD will not be hiring these individuals.
Since this is outside of our typical hiring of wildland firefighters, I was hoping the MSFA could help us out by passing this along to your member companies. The turnaround time on this is fairly quick as the site will be up and running by March 1.
Any interested party would need to provide current EMTB or higher qualifications and be a member in good standing of any MD fire department. Assignments would be similar to wildland fire assignments and be for 14 consecutive days, working 12 hours per day. Pay rate is based on each individual’s qualifications and can be provided upon request. All individuals will need to be self sufficient, meaning they will need to pay for meals, travel, and lodging out of pocket. These will all be reimbursed upon completion of the assignment.
The MFS in coordination with the USFS will handle all of the necessary paperwork to get the hiring process completed. All personnel will be Federal employees under the Administratively Determined (AD Pay Plan for Emergency Workers) and will be covered by Federal Workers Compensation Insurance while deployed.
Any questions or interested parties can be directed to my attention.
Thanks
Chris
