MSFA Steering Committee Recommendation for 2021 Convention
Good Morning.
On Tuesday of this week, the Steering Committee met to discuss this years Convention and Conference. After exploring several current elements of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and the uncertainties of what indoor public gatherings will be like in June, it was the recommendation of the steering committee to move forward with the virtual events and not hold an in-person experience.
Last night, President Walked called for a special Executive Committee Meeting and I was asked to present the steering committee recommendation to the executive committee. After a little discussion, the executive committee voted unanimously to accept the steering committees recommendation and move forward with planning virtual events for this year.
It was suggested that if we can arrange for a fall social gathering so that the leadership can gather and recognize our officers, then that should be in the plan. The executive committee asked to see a preliminary plan before the next executive committee meeting and that is our immediate charge.
I know this is not what any of us wanted to hear, but the realty is that it is what is best for the MSFA, LAMSFA and our membership. We will be scheduling some calls and virtual meetings to carry things forward and I hope and pray that we never have to make these types of decisions ever again.
Thanks for all you do and Be Safe.
