It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of former Chief and Director William Alan Hinde. Chief Hinde served the RVFD for more than 46 years, rising through the ranks to serve as Fire Chief two different times, 1990 and 1991 and again 1999 to 2003 when he became the MCFRS Division Chief for Volunteer Services.
Chief Hinde was well known in the fire service, and well respected by all that had the privilege to know and work alongside him. He was a friend to all of us and was part of a true fire department multi-generational family, His father Bill served as president, his late wife Lisa was an administrative member and his son Christopher is a current deputy chief. We will miss Alan’s wisdom and friendship more than words can express.
Information regarding funeral services will be provided as soon as it is available.
Please keep the Hinde family, his friends and all of your fellow members of the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers as we all deal with this tragic loss.
