Statement from the MSFA regarding the recent proposed budget cuts for Maryland State Police – Aviation Command
Over the past week, there has been information released stating that budget cuts proposed by the Board of Public Works will reduce the Maryland State Police helicopter fleet by one, as well as shut down one base station. We realize the impact that these budget cuts would have and stand in full support of MSP Aviation.
Although there has been much speculation across social media, it is still unconfirmed which region would be affected. Your continued show of support for these services is helpful and appreciated.
The MSFA has been in weekly contact with our state partners, including MSP Aviation, and we will continue to work alongside them to ensure that our first responders, as well as our citizens that rely on us for care, are represented in this matter.
MSFA Legislative Committee Vice Chair Jimmy Malone has worked diligently in Annapolis for many years in the interest of the Maryland Fire Service and will continue to do so on this very important issue. If you have any further questions, you can contact him at (410) 207-2531”
