MIEMSS is pleased to announce that Timothy P. Chizmar, MD, has been hired for the position of State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Medical Director. Dr. Chizmar comes with excellent credentials necessary to fill this position, including outstanding fire service and career/volunteer EMS relationships that he has developed while growing up through Maryland’s EMS and physician training systems. Dr. Timothy Chizmar, an emergency room physician with University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health, medical director for Harford County EMS and an active member of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company, has been named State EMS medical director for the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS). Dr. Alcorta retired from MIEMSS on October 31, 2018 and will assist in a smooth transition in leadership.
