MSFA Name Change
As reported over the past two months, three member companies have submitted name
changes for the MSFA to be included on the ballot at Convention this year. Those names
are:
– “Maryland State Firefighters Association” – Kensington VFD
– “Maryland State Fire and EMS Association” – Norrisville VFC
– “Maryland State Volunteer Fire, Rescue and EMS Association – Rockville VFD
Voting Process
PLEASE NOTE: In order to accommodate the MSFA bylaws, the delegate who will be
casting the ballots must be present at the convention. The delegate (one per company) who
will be casting votes for their company MUST appear at registration during registration
hours Sunday or Monday – prior to voting – to verify their email address in order to receive
a ballot. Failure to check in at the registration desk and verify the email to receive a ballot
will result in that person not receiving a ballot to cast. No exceptions.
This is different from prior conventions where only the company needed to register.
*Again, please make certain the person that will cast your company’s ballot appears at
registration prior to the voting times to verify their email
IN ADDITION: We need all delegates to understand to the voting process:
There could be two rounds of voting for the name change and position of 2nd Vice President
as there are three candidates this year. Please pay attention to the conclusion of the 1st round
of balloting.
– During the 1st round of balloting for the name change, please select YES for the name
you prefer most.
The name with the most votes over 50% will be presented on the second ballot so in the
second round, only one name will appear. Although this name may not be your 1st choice, it
is the name that received the most votes and your YES vote will be needed to move it
forward.
The new name needs to have 2/3rd majority to pass in the second round. Should a 2/3rd vote
not be achieved, the ballot is ended and no change will take place.
Your Vote Counts and will guide the future of this association and the future of the
volunteer service across the State of Maryland!
