**Information Needed** Legislative Chair Bob Phillips has continued gathering information
on departments across the state that DO NOT have a second set of turnout gear for their active
members. Please email the name of your department and the number of active members
that DO NOT have a second set of gear to rfcchief48@gmail.com no later than Tuesday
morning, 7/26/22. If you sent this info in already this past march, please update your numbers if
needed.

Reminder: President Kurtz has announced the following Executive Committee meetings:
August 20–21, 2022 Jarrettsville VFC
December 3–4, 2022 Showell VFC
February 11–12, 2023 Prince Frederick VFD
April 1–2, 2023 Flintstone VFD

Meetings will start at 9am on Saturday and Sunday and all are encouraged to attend.

Please be advised that a survey will be sent to all departments next week. It will ask several
questions regarding the proposed name changes and why the proposals failed. We ask that each
department that cast a vote this past June fill out this survey in a timely manner as we continue
discussions on how we move forward into 2023. As a reminder, President Kurtz has asked that
NO NAME CHANGE PROPOSALS BE SUBMITTED until after January 1, 2023.

Reminder: We are asking that ALL committee chairs visit their committee page on the msfa.org
website and ensure that all members of your committee are listed, the documents associated
with your committee are current, and any new information is posted as soon as possible.

The Cancer Committee’s announced its 2023 Walk of Hope in Annapolis which will be held on
Sunday, April 23, 2023. They hope to have an excellent turn out again next spring!
The Ways and Means Committee reminds all departments that the 2023 Convention $10,000
Raffle tickets have been distributed to all Executive Committee members. Please be sure to
contact them to get your tickets!

“For the past several years, I have had the opportunity to present my talk on mental wellness in
the fire/EMS service. Please consider joining me and others for this presentation. I promise
you that you will walk away with a better understanding of the stresses that we go through as
first responders and the actions that we need to take as individuals and as department leaders to
face this challenge to our health and safety.

There are two opportunities to hear my presentation this coming week:

1. Tuesday, July 26, at 7pm, at the Carroll County Public Safety Training Center, 50 Kate
Wagner Rd., Westminster, MD 21157

2. Wednesday, July 27, at 7pm, at Queen Anne – Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company, 13512
1st St., Queen Anne, MD 21657

Can’t make it? If your department is willing to host a presentation, please reach out to me. I’m
willing to travel anywhere to deliver this important message. All I ask is that you provide a
room for the presentation, have audio–visual equipment suitable for the presentation, and that
you promote this presentation to members of your department and surrounding departments.”
